As we close out this October, the Month of the Holy Rosary, I find myself inspired by the faithfulness of donors like you. It is because of your generosity to the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal that our Catholic faith lives on in the Archdiocese of New York, bringing the saving mystery of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection to our world.
The impact you’ve made through your support is shown in the success of New York Catholic Youth Day last month, as well as the great work our Vocations Office will be doing during Vocations Awareness Week. And looking ahead, your generosity is helping our ministry offices put on inspiring events like the Feminine Genius Brunch that allow our people to grow deeper in their love for God.
While you read through these items highlighted in this newsletter, please know that I deeply appreciate your dedication to the Appeal and all you do for our Church. You are a part of a long and hallowed history of donors—including those who will be prayed for at our upcoming Mass of Remembrance—who have built up and continue to build up our great archdiocese.
With gratitude,
Kelvin Gentles
Executive Director
New York Catholic Youth Day
Hundreds of middle and high schoolers gathered at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers last month on September 27 and 28 to participate in New York Catholic Youth Day. The weekend included Eucharistic adoration, confession, fellowship, and Masses celebrated by Cardinal Dolan and Bishop Joseph Espaillat. Through your generosity, you made possible this faith-filled weekend that inspired our youth to live for Christ boldly in our world today.
November 2 to 8 is Vocation Awareness Week, dedicated to promoting vocations and praying for those discerning God’s call in their lives. The archdiocese’sAppeal-funded Vocations Office will be hard at work during this time, reaching out to men about the possibility of the priesthood. One of the ways they do this is through itsCasting the Net podcast, in which the priests of our archdiocese tell their vocation story to inspire young men to consider their own call. During Vocations Awareness Week, consider sharing the podcast with a young man open to a vocation, and join us in praying for all of those in discernment.
Coming up on Sunday, November 9, Cardinal Dolan will celebrate a special Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in remembrance of deceasedCardinal’s Appealdonors and their loved ones. If you would like your beloved deceased to be included in these prayers, there is still time to click the link below and complete the form.
The Respect Life Office, funded by theAppeal, will host a Feminine Genius Brunch on Saturday, November 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. Open to all women, it will feature talks on the beauty of the gifts God has specifically given to women and how they feature in His plan for creation. Registration is currently open.
October has been the Month of the Holy Rosary, dedicated to the great prayer of the Rosary, through which we meditate on the holy mysteries of our faith, and the salvation Jesus has won for us. In honor of this month, please enjoy this digital prayer card of Our Lady of the Rosary.
